Stand Up For The Symphony!

 

3rd Grade finally finished a creative design project while concluding our study of the Instruments of the Orchestra!

 

The St. Louis Symphony has a marvelous resource for music students that helps to teach the seating arrangement of the orchestra and our 3rd grade Fine Arts Gang took full advantage of this activity! The activity includes a "stand-up" version of the instruments in a basic orchestra and allows the child to put their own creative spin on each musician and their instrument. We also used a resource from Joy Morin to help us organize each figurine appropriately in our available space.

 

 

Our 3rd grade classes split into two teams - the design team and the creative team!  The design team was responsible for mapping out the seating arrangement of the orchestra onto the display board, securing the labels, display key and of course the TON of cutting and gluing that went along with the assignment!

 

 

 

The creative team was responsible for giving each figurine their own unique "style", shall we say? Colored pencils made quick work of this part of the project and working together as a team was vital to this part of the project! 

 



 

We thoroughly enjoyed this project and learned SO MUCH about the different instruments, how they are grouped and also about how to work together!
